Madrid is a popular tourist destination and accomodation offer is huge, you can find interesting deals in popular web booking sites such as:

Staying in the north of Madrid, close to Chamartin train station
The conference venue is approximately 20 km. north to the city center, so the most convenient way to stay within Madrid well connected via subway to enjoy the free time in the city and at the same time not spending too much time every day to attend the conference is staying in the north of the city. The best areas in this sense are close to Chamartin (commuter train station). We recommend staying as close as possible to Chamartin station, as getting to the campus using the commuter train is very fast (line C-4, only two stops to reach Cantoblanco Universidad, about 15 minutes + 10 minutes walk from Cantoblanco Universidad station to the venue). Staying in the north of Madrid, close to Plaza de Castilla
Other convenient place to find accommodation, very close to Chamartin train station, is in the area of Plaza de Castilla. Plaza de Castilla is well connected to the conference venue with a direct suburban bus (line 714). This bus goes from Plaza de Castilla to the campus in 30-35 minutes, but has the advantage of stopping right at the conference venue (Escuela Politécnica Superior), thus avoiding the 10 minutes walk from the train station in the campus. The area of Plaza de Castilla is also well connected to the rest of Madrid by subway. Right there in Plaza de Castilla we recommend:

Staying in the city center, close to Sol train station
Although the venue is approximately 20 km. north to the city center, there is a good public transportation via commuter train between the center and the venue from Sol station to Cantoblanco Universidad station (line C-4). If you choose to stay around Sol you will be right in the city center and within walking distance of most attractions downtown. Getting from there to the venue may take around 25 minutes + 10 minutes walk from Cantoblanco Universidad station to the venue. Staying in the city center, close to Atocha train station
If you prefer to stay close to the city center we recommend you to stay closer to Sol train station. However, you may also find accommodation close to Atocha train station, this station is also well connected via commuter train to Cantoblanco Universidad station (line C-4). Getting from there to the venue may take around 30 minutes + 10 minutes walk from Cantoblanco Universidad station to the venue.
